Boyolali – Saving electrical energy from an early age is one way to protect the environment and reduce the impact of global warming. The electrical energy we use every day comes from various sources, such as coal, gas, water, wind and sun. However, not all energy sources are renewable or environmentally friendly. Some energy sources, such as coal and gas, can cause air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions which cause the earth’s temperature to increase. Therefore, we need to use electrical energy wisely and sparingly so as not to waste precious natural resources.
Seeing the lack of understanding about saving electrical energy among the children of Sranten Village, the author carried out a work program in the form of electricity saving education from an early age to the children of Sranten Elementary School. This outreach is carried out so that students can find out what electronic goods save electrical energy in their environment.
Through this program the author introduces ways that can be done to save electrical energy from an early age, both at home and at school. This material aims to ensure that students have a good and correct understanding of small steps that can save electrical energy in their respective home environments.
Some examples to save electrical energy:
- Turn off lights, fans, TV and other electronic equipment when not in use or when leaving the room
- Unplug your cellphone or other gadget charger if it is not in use or is full
- Limit the use of gadgets and do more physical activity or play outside
In this program the author explains examples of the benefits of saving electrical energy. For example, saving electrical energy can help protect the environment and reduce the impact of global warming, saving electrical energy can save on monthly electricity bills, saving electrical energy can avoid energy crises in the future, and saving electrical energy can improve our health and quality of life.
The author hopes that students will know the importance of saving electrical energy. The author also hopes that with this activity, awareness of the culture of saving electricity will begin to grow from an early age. So that in the future when children grow up they will be equipped with useful knowledge, especially in using electricity so that it remains useful for life.
